EXCHANGING NATIVE SEEDS.
ARIZONA AND NORTH WALES.
The council of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society's plant branch met yesterday afternoon. Mr. F. Carr Rollett pr« sided. * • _ A corninunictttiou was received from Norfolk Island stating', in rop.ly to' the society's request, that orange cuttings of varieties grown on the island would; bo supplied. A letter was received from the Boyco Thomson South-western Arboretum, Arizona, asking for seeds of New Zealand native flora and offering in return seeds from tlio southern portion of America, It was arranged to send seeds of-Now Zealand flax, nikau palm ,and of some forest trees. ; It was stated that seeds: of New Zealand plants and-trees had been sent, to North Wales in return fo:.' seeds received. Some discussion took place regarding the ; advisability of utilising the 'gullies and northern slopes of tho Auckland. Domain for the growth of palms and .flowering shrubs in place of the Chinese privet, tobacco tree and,other undesirable growth no\v running wild.
