SOUTH AUCKLAND'S CHALLENGE
The Management Committee o{ the Auckland. Rugby League met last evening, Mr. W, <T. Hammill presiding. The Canterbury League wrote stating it would accept the terms of Saturday's match against Auckland for tbo Northern Union Cup, namely, 50 per cent.. of. the net gate. Tbo visitors, who will arrive to-morrow morning, asked that Mr. \V. MjhcHarn • should he appointed as referee, and it was decided to support the request 'to the New Zealand Council.
Mr. W. Sheeran, secretary of the Huntly Club, wrote asking for a visit from a senior team on Saturday. Good progress was being made in the re-establishment of the League code. It was found that, owing to the lateness of the. request, no team would be able to visit Huntly this Saurday. ■Th« Labour Day Committee asked for the use of Carhiv.' Park on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, October _'i. 24 and -5.. It was decided to reply that, owing to the possible continuation of the club competitions permission could not be granted for Saturuay, but the use of the,, ground was approved for Saturday evening. The Hamilton League wrote granting 'lie transfer of .f MoVeagli to Ponsonby Club. Mr. E. Stalhvo'rthy said the _ application could be approved only by the New Zealand Council.
The Junior Management Committee reported -that arrangements had been made to play the Hamilton juniors against the Richmond second grade team on- September 4 at Car!aw ■ Park, • The ; reinstatement of W. F. '1 anr.er, of Devonport. was approved. The Northcote senior team was granted permission to travel to Hamilton on Saturday. . ■ , Mr. E. Stallworthy reported that the Aew Zealand Council would in all future challenge matches appoint its own referees, nnd that all Leagues concerned would b? expected to submit each season three of their leading referees, from whom the appointments would from time to time be made.
