EXPENDITURE OF LOAN.
TAKAPUNA EXPLANATIONS.
Explanations of the expenditure of the Marine Torraco. loan before completion of the work were furnished to the Takaipuna Borough Council last evening. r The town clerk reported that an amount, if £521 5s 4d wrongly charged to Marine Terrace loan would be refunded to that loan from the streets works loan of £75,000. The engineer explained that in his estimate he had allowed for 2s a load for excavations supplied to the King Edward Avenue and Walter's Hill jobs. The retaining wall, owing to the nature of the ground, which was found to be slipping badly, required to be constructed • a much heavier manner than was originally estimated. Further, during progress of the works a storm water dram I as found to have collapsed and'required :to be renewed, this item not being provided for in the estimate. ; The engineer-was instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of completion of .he wall-and report to .the council* .
