At a special meeting last evening members of the Te Awamutu Bowling Club considered the proposal of the South Auckland Bowling Centre to deprive the Cambridge Club of its Easter dates for the annual tournament, with a view to the centre using those dates. It was decided, by 13 votes to 10, to support the Cambridge Club in retaining that date, with the request that permission be only given for a tournament on three greens. Last Easier there were so many entries that Cambridge converted adjoining croquet lawns to accommodate the huge assembly. , Prior to their departure for Papatoetoe Mr. and Mrs. F. McConkey were entertained at a complimentary social,, which was largely attended. On behalf of the .settlers, Mr. J. T. Johnson presented Mrs. McConkey with a floating bowl and centrepiece, and Mr. McConkey with an ebony case of toilet requisites. Mrs. McConkey, during her residence in this district, has been prominently associated with Methodist Church work and has assisted largely in raising funds for building the Mangapiko Public Hall.
