NOTES ON THE RACING. [B3J TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAWERA, Wednesday. . The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club meeting was held to-day in fine but cold weather, the track being in really good order for this time of the year. Four two-year-olds were sprinted, the Limond-Vorch. youngster, taking the eye, but a Bisogned Ice juvenile also hit out well. ' Tawehi had too much pace for Roman in tho last furlong of the Hack Hurdles and w ° n . after leading practically all the way, Taitaiata and Kareab were both sore and could not go in the early stages, v anninia was beaten off 100 yds. away last. Banjuke, a five-year-old gelding by Bisogne from Lady Moor, cantered away from hiß opponents in tho Hunters' Hurdles. He was several classes above the opposii,3 owned by Mr. Eric Riddiford, of Wellington, and is trained by F. C. McKay, at Bulls.

Pop Off, .a five-year-old gelding by Ivilboy from Arrarak. raced with Atone to the turn in the Maiden Handicap. Airtight then arrived on the scene and Atone retired, Pop Off beating Airtight by half a length only. Te Kareke, a sister to Yoma and Pouma, led all the way in the Waverley Hack Handicap, finishing with plenty of courage to hold off Monaghan, who should be improved by the race. Subjection ran one of his worst races. Captain Gazeley, the favourite, was too sore to do himself justice.Lupineel scored an easy victory in the Hunt Cup. There were only five standing up over the last half mile. Lupineel, Young Thurnham, Gilgai, Oneroa and Grey Dawn, and of these Grey Dawn enme to grief two paces from home. Young Thurnham should be improved by the race, his first- for iv long time. He did not jump too well. Sea Comet almost lost his rider five furlongs from home, E. Warner losing an iron, and Sea 'ConW. was pulled up. Suweileh was going wqll in front until he charged the aor! wall and turned right over. The Flying Handicap result provided rather a. surprise to most concerned, for after Gailjard and Shut Eve had run themselves out Euphonium and Alaric were left to it to run first and second. Hipo was well back sixth. Halgina, a sound favourite, was never going like a winner. Seatown has met with a slight injury and was not a starter.

Black Rod, ridden by a brother of Alan McDonald, won ihe Ladies' Bracelet after coming from the clouds in the straight.. Sea View, the rtraner-up. was also well back early. Roche, who finished fourth, was not good enough after holding a good position all the way.
