FISHING AT ROTORUA.
MONEY FOR DEVELOPMENT. REVENUE FROM ANGLERS. SPECIAL LICENSES PROPOSED. [BY TELEGRAPH.--SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. By the Fisheries Amendment Bill introduced into the House of Representatives to-day it is proposed to authorise the issuing of special fishing licenses in respect of the Rotorua acclimatisation district, with the exception of the Taupo waters. The licenses apply to trout and perch and are to cover only the district mentioned. The Taupo waters referred to as exempt are Lake Taupo, all rivers and streams flowing into it, and the Waikato River between the lake and the Huka Falls. Tho licenses are to be instituted by means of regulations, and while the latter are in force no license purporting to be available throughout New Zealand is to entitle the holder to fish in the waters covered by the regulations. When the blil was introduced the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. R. F. Bollard, explained that the object was to obtain funds for the development of fishing in the Rotorua district. An amendment of the. law was necessary because anglers took out licenses elsewhere and no revenue was received from them.,
