POTATO POSITION EASIER. SHIPMENTS DURING JULY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —I?KESS ASSOCIATION. J CHEISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Tho easing in the' potato market mentioned at the. week-end has developed. To-day AugHst-Septeniboi" coastals , wore sold at £6 5s and September ,at a shade more. Australian business of a minor naturo has been done at £7 5s for the Waihora, which will leave on Saturday. Offers have- been mentioned for tho next boat later in tho month at £7. Cabled advice received this morning from Sydney stated. that New Zealand potatoes were quoted at £lO 10s to £ll a ton. Tho Poolta, which was to havo left last week for Auckland, will now sail to-morrow. Farmers are not offering and nominally values on f.o.b.s.i. parity are about £4 10s to £4 12s 6cl on trucks. Tho shipments to the end of July, 1925, from Lyttelton were:—Coastal, 16,002 tons; overseas, 1112 tons; total, 17,114 tons. To end of July, 1926: Coastal, 14,427 tons; overseas. 7518 tons; total, 21,945 tons. Tho increase on last year for the seven months is 4831 tons. The Timaru figure:, this season are lower. Tho rejection of New Zealand potatoes in Sydney has occasioned no surprise. The surprise is that anyone should have attempted to get tHem in. If Australian growers are looking for an excuse to prevent table potatoes! entering Sydney there is little hopo of seed being passed. It is reported that ono substantial par* cel of wlicat has been sold through store at the equivalent of 7s 5d on trucks. Fowl wheat • has changed hands at 7k 6d f.o.b. vThero.'is very little of the additional, wheat indicaiod by tho estimates materialising. , - .
