GLEN EDEN AFFAIRS.
TOWN BOARD MEETING. The Glen Eden Town Board met on Monday, Mr. J. M. West presiding. The proposal of the' Waitemata Power Board to divert £15,000 of the loan moneys which were specially raised for work within the Power Board's area, as then constituted, for work within the Devonport area, was discussed. It was pointed out that grave injustice would be done to the ratepayers who were responsible for the loan, as the money would not be spent on the work for which it was raised and authorised. It was decided to send a protest to the Waitemata Power Board and also' to the Minister of Internal Affairs in connection with the proposal. A letter was received stating that the Public Works Department was surveying a'route for high-tension lines through residential sections in the district. It, was decided to point out to the department the elfect the erection of lines would have on the values of the properties and to suggest that a slight deviation in the routd should be made. Mr. A. Yates was appointed temporary caretaker of the recreation grounds. The matter of the new footpaths in Fairview and Belle Vue Roads and elsewhere having been brought np, the board decided that it would not be advisable, to commence any new construction work until the advent of dry weather. member for the district, Mr. H. G. R. Mason, forwarded a copy of the proposed Town-planning Bill for the information of the board. It was resolved to hold a special meeting on Monday, evening next to consider the provisions of the bill and also the proposed Local Government Loans Bill. Mr. A. B. Smith, of New Lynn, was appointed to succeed the present building ' inspector, who is retiring.
