ONEHUNGA VALUATIONS.
Sir,—At this time of financial stress and when the Onehunga ratepayers have to provide a loan of £SOOO for the unemployed, valuations Have . been increased from 100 to 200, per cent. I have objected to my increase of over 100 per cent, and was notified by the valuer to go and see him, which I did. After waiting with a host of others for six hours I was* informed that I would have to go to the Assessment Court and I lost a day's wages, plus tram fares. 1 have since been notified that the Court will commence at 10 a.m. on Friday 6th, at Auckland. I contend that as there is a courthouse at Onehunga, and there are many objectors, a Court ought to be held here. Working men cannot afford to lose - wages, perhaps for days. If a Court cannot be held here then Onehunga objectors should be notified oil which day their cases will be heard. It is -hard to, understand why objectors at Devoriport, Mount Albert. Onehunga, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe and Tamaki should be notified to be present on the same day when it is not . possible to hear ten per cent., of the objectors. A 50 Years' Subscriber.
