PRESENTATIONS.
On behalf of the staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, Ltd., Mr. H. 0. Nolan, the manager, made a presentation of an oak office desk and chair of the retiring accountant, Mr. fi. M. Edgar, last evening. Mr. Nolan made eulogistic references to the devoted service of Mr. Edgar during the 24 years he had been with the firm. Mr. Edgar expressed regret at severing his connection with his old friends and associates. A very large number of residents of the Te Puke district attended the valedictory social on Thursday night to Mr. and Mrs. Adolnhus Montgomery, who are leaving the district for Cambridge, after living at Te Puke for 17 years. Mr. H. 0. Cooney referred in eulogistic terms to the prominent part Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery had Liken in the affairs of the district and presented Mr. Montgomery with a handsome cheque. A complimentary dinner to Mr. E. W. Evans, managing director, was tendered by tho staff of Messrs. Brown, Barrett, Ltd., on Thursday evening. Mr. Evans has been associated with the firm for over 30 years, arid is about to retire from active business. On behalf of the proprietors, Mr. Alexander Geddes presented Mr. Evans with a handsome silver tea and coffee service and tray. Mr. Evans was also the recipient of an engraved gold cigarette case, presented by Mr. Howie on behalf of the staff.
