MUNICIPAL BANDS.
ACTIVITIES AT HAMILTON. [BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Citizens' Committee, which has charge of the affairs of the Hamilton Municipal Band, was held last evening. The chairman, Mr. I). Hay, reported a progressive period of activity. The liabilities of over £3OO had been reduced to £125. He appealed to the townspeople for support for the band and congratulated the conductor, Mr. A. K. Mara, and the bandsmen, paying a tribute to their performance at the Dunedin contests.
'The following officers were elected:— General committee, Messrs. D. Hay, H. Beebe, D. Dunn; secretary, Mr. P. P. B. Powell; representatives on committee, Messrs. J. Graham Young and E. Jamieson ; conductor, Mr. A. K. Mara; bandmaster, Mr. J. Taylor; sergeant, Mr. C. Jamieson; corporal, Mr. L. McKenzie; librarians, Messrs. P. Govver and C. Henderson.
PUKEKOHE'S rEW BUILDING. OFFICIAL OPENING HELD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE. Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Municipal Band was held last evening in the new bandroom, which was officially opened at the beginning of the proceedings by the Mayor, Air. John Routly. The Mayor congratulated the band upon its acquisition of the new room, which had been largely due to the voluntary labour given in its erection. The building was an asset to the town. The president, Mr. J. H. Webb, reported that the financial position of the band was improving every year. Thanks were due for financial assistance in the building of the bandroom. 'The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : —President, Mr. Webb; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. T. Parvin and H. Curd; bandmaster, Mr. A. Waddell; sergeant, Mr. L. Pomeroy; corporal, Mr. C. Deed; lance-corporal, Mr. W. Richards; collector, Mr. A. Barber : secretary and treasurer. Mr. B. Wright; assistant-secretary and reporter, Mr. Richards; members of management committee. Messrs. E. Pook, J. Patterson, M. Brown, L. Pomeroy and J. P. Kae; members of bandsmen's committee, Messrs. J. Meyers and I. Stuart : librarian, Mr. Waddell; auditors, Messrs. M. S. Campbell and J. F. Deane.
