The Mataroa sheepdog trials last week were om of the most successful meetings since the inception of the club. There were competitors from all over the North Island tmd some from the South Island, including F. Trotter. Kurow. Results are:— Class 1.-~Collerton and West's Cup: H. Harris, 74 points, 1; T. Sullivan, ,3, 2; W. Frew, 72, 3; B. Collerton, 68*. 'Class 2. —13rooky Bros.' Cup, huntaway: ,T. McHardy. 41i points, 1; P. Norns, 41, 2; F. King, 40*, 8; P. -Norns, 40 Class 3. —F. Ward's Cup, tor head and pull: Miss Long. 04 points, 1; E. England, 03. 2; G. West. 62, 1. Class 4. J. A. Brandt's Challenge Cup. best huntaway, for competitors under 18 years only: D. Muir, 1; G. Cleaver, 2: H. Harris. 3. H. Harris. The 100-guinea gold cup was won by Miss Long, whose performance greatly surprised all other competitors. She seemed to do everything by kindness Other competitors state that they knew her to be a skilled antagonist, but did not expect her io defeat leading shepherds of New Zealand. In addition to the gold cup, Miss Long won a cash prize of £lO and a challenge cup.
