In the county cricket championships Middlesex in their first innings against Notts scored 196 runs (Hearne 72), and in their second 222 (Bruce 71, Mann 52). Staples took five wickets for 60. Notts in their first innings made 223 (Carr 98), and in their second 120. Hearne took five wickets for 16. Middlesex won by 75 runs.

Surrey in their first innings against Sussex made 112 (Fender, not out, 61). A. E. Gilligan took five wickets for 54. The second innings yielded 375 (Ducat 61, Holmes 69). Sussex in their first innings made 399 (Duleep Sinhji 76, Wensley 67, Cook 103). The match was drawn Yorkshire in their first innings against Hampshire scored 237 (Leyland 118), and m their second 251 for three wickets, declared (Holmes 108, Oldroyd 109).
