THE SOUTHERN CROSS.
RETURN FROM THE ISLANDS. MISSIONARIES ON FURLOUGH. A three-months trip round 'the mission stations of the South-west Pacific was concluded on Friday night when the Melanesian Mission steamer, the Southern Cross, arrived back in Auckland. On board the little steamer were Bishop Molyneux, Assistant Bishop of Melanesia, and five missionaries. Bishop Molyneux commenced his duties in the mission fields about a year ago and has come to Auckland on furlough. The Rev. H. L. Hart and the Rev. W. Steel, of St. Patrick's College, Vureas, Banks Island, and the Rev. A. E. Teall, of Aoba, New Hebrides, are also on furlough and Mr. Teall intends to proceed to England. Mr. A. Bradley and. Mr. W. Engall, who have been working in the Solomon Islands, have resigned and have returned to New Zealand.
Another passenger on the Southern Cross was Mr. H. S. N, Robinson, general secretary of the Melanesian Mission, who made the round trip in the vessel.
