BOXING.
TROWERN V. JAMITO. LOCAL BOUT ARRANGED, A bout has been arranged by the Northern Boxing Association between Silvino Jamito and Reginald Trowern. to take place at the Town Hall on August 16. Jamito has not fought in Auckland previously, but he has proved very popular with southern boxing enthusiasts. Trowern is at present in Australia fulfilling engagements.
TOURNAMENT AT OPOTIKI. [BY XELEGRAPH. —own CORRESPONDENT. ] OPOTIKI. Saturday, The fifth tournament under the auspices of the Opotiki Boxing Association was held, last night, the Alhambra Theatre being crowded. The takings were over £6O. The president, Mr. J. E. Shaw, appealed for trophies for competition between boxers of the Bay of Plenty and those of Poverty Bay. The appeal met with a good response, medals being promised by Messrs. Starkey, Purcell, J. D. Clark, L. Quirk, Jephson, Battle and L. Mcintosh. Results of the bouts were:—P. Edwards (Waiawa), beat C. Newth (Opotiki); "W. Noble (Omokoroa), beat M. McCarthy (Toatoa); S. Wells (Omokoroa), beat M. Malcolm (Tauranga); T. McCarthy (Toatoa) drew with A. Parkes (Awakeri), after an extra round ordered by the referee: A. Savage (Nukuhou), beat D. Lloyd (Tauranga)- L. Reeve (Taneatua). beat J.'McKay (Gigborne), after a very clever exhibition by both men; L. Gee (Tauranga) beat G. Odea (Gisborne); A. Robinson (Gisborne), drew with N. Reeve (Tane&to&jU
