YACHTING PRIZES.
POINT CHEVALIER CLUB. __ f PRESENTATION CEREMONY. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club held its annual dance and distribution of prizes in the clubhouse on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance of memoerß and visitors, the hall being specially decorated for the occasion. 'The commodore. Mr. W. Oliver, presided, and among those present were Mr. M. J. Coyie. preuident of the club, Mr. K. G-. R. Mason, M.P., and Messrs. F. W. Brinsden and E. Pheiuu. Before distributes the prizes Mr. Mason made a presentation of a gold necklace, on behalf of the club, to Miss H. Bayliss, who had been adjudged the moat popular girl in the district. Mr. Mason congratulated the club on the progress it had made in a very short period and made special reference to its fine club, house. Yachting should always be encouraged as there was no sport healthier than it. Not only did it develop the physique, but it had a healthy influence over the mind and body. He was pleased to learn that the ladies took part .in the actual sailing of some of the races and wished to congratulate the winner of the club's race for ladies, which was won by the yacht Malua, The most important events were won by the following boats Seaweed, Spiers' Cupj Malua, ladies' race. Careill Cup and commodore's cup; Ivy, president's trophy, Halliburton—Johnson Cup, Lupton Cup and champion flag; Split-Wave. Auckland MotorBui! Company's Cupl The champion flag for sea scouts was won by the Fame troop.
