Howard (Conservative) . . . . 9,839 Curry (Liberal). . 4,000 The Daily Herald claims that the Wallsend victory, following Darlington, East Ham and Hammersmith, indicates a great swing tuward Labour throughout the country.

The voting for Wallsend at the last general election was:—Sir Partick Hastings, 17.274; S Howard, 15,672. Mis* Margaret Bondfield is the chief woman - officer of the National Union of General and.
