OTOROHANGA NOTES.
GOOD DAIRYING FROSPEGTS.
[BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] OTOROHANGA, Friday. The dairy factory will re-open for the season on August 2, when cream, which during the off season has been going to the Te Awamutu branch factory, will be received for churning locally. The weather during the past few days has been bright and the prospects for the coming season are encouraging. As showing the capacity of the dairying land in this district the returns from the 40 best cows in one herd of Jerseys are of interest. These 40 cows have averaged slightly over 4501b of butter-fat for the past season. There was a sharp frost this morning, seven degrees being registered. A huge mechanical shovel, capable of lifting 400vds. of shingle per day from the river bed has been imported by a local company. It weighs 23 tons and runs on caterpillar wheels.
