DISCOVERY OF SKELETON.
CONCLUSION OF INQUIRY. IDENTITY NOT ESTABLISHED. [BE TEI.EGBAPU.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] RAETIHI. Wednesday. No light has been thrown upon the discovery made in May of this year, of the fragmentary remains of a human skeleton which were found by some bushmen when working at Horopito, An inquiry into the matter*which wis adjourned has now been closed. In the vicinity of the remains were found a pair of boots, a knife and a watch, with the words " William Bur" scratched on the inside of the case. There was nothing to establish the identity of the owner. It was considered that his death occurred 20 years previous to the discovery. In the meantime the police have made many exhaustive inquiries, and the watch has been sent to many places in the Dominion with the hope of information being supplied that would lead to the identification of the man to whom it belonged.
