MAORI KILLED INSTANTLY. ACCIDENT IN A QUARRY. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] KAIKOHE, Saturday. A Maori, Walter Davis, aged 49 years, wus crushed to death this morning in a quarry at Ngawha, near Kaikohe. Deceased, who was in the employ of the Bay of Islands County Council, was engaged with three others in getting stone out of the quarry, when several tons of rock fell forward. Before he. could escape a boulder weighing between 2cwfc. and 3cwt. struck him on the back, pinning him to the ground. He was killed instantly. i , ; ' Deceased was a married man and had three children, the youngest ot whom is only a month old.
