SALE WOT EFFECTED. FORMER REPORT PREMATURE. Australian and N.Z". Cable Association, (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 17. It is now announced that the "negotiations for the sale of the White Star Lino by the International Mercantile Marine to British interests have broken down. A cablegram from New York on jJune 17 stated : The stockholders in tine International Mercantile Marine Company'today approved the sale of the White' Star Line. The purchasers are Furness, Withy and Co., Ltd., and other British interests. The purchase price is between £7,000,000 and £7,500,000.
