Y.W.C.A.
The monthly meeting of tho board of directors of tho Young Women's Christian Association was held at the Holiday House at Blockhouse Bay to give members an opportunity of seeing the new wing which had been erected. Among the business dealt with was the campaign for tho erection of the proposed new hostel. It was reported that £12,406 had been received to dato from the girls' appeal, and it was intended to proceed with tlie scheme without delay. Mr. Basil 15. Hooper was appointed architect for the now building and a building committee was also appointed. A general members' meeting was arranged to take place on Tuesday, July 20, when national board members" would be appointed. It was suggested that part of the programme should bo a debate on tho subject ; "That as the membership of the Y.W.C.A. is based on 'purpose' all membership fees should be abolished." 'the object of this'is to ascortain the feeling of members in pursuance of a recommendation. It was resolved that a protest bo sent in regard to the granting of a license to the Ambassadors Hotel.
