The All Blacks avenged their previous loss by defeating New South Wales in the second test match yesterday by 11 | points to 6. The match was played at the Showgrounds in the presence of 32.000 spectators. The game was exceptionally fast, and exciting. With only three minutes tc go the score was six all. Then the All Blacks launched a back attack which resulted in the scoring of the winning try under the posts. The weather was dull and inclined to be chilly, but there was no wind. The only alteration in the teams was that Laycock replaced Fox in the New South Wales pack. New Zealand won the toss and Morrissey kicked off. Fumbling by the All Black backs immediately placed New South Wales in an attacking position, but a free kick gave relief to the All Blacks, who retaliated with a heavy forward rush. Ross saved, finding the line. Crossman, standing over an imaginary line in a lineout in front of the posts, gave Nicholls a kick, which narrowly missed. Pace of Game Increases. The All Blacks continued to attack, King relieving by finding the line at halfway. A bad forward pass by Blake put an All Black off-side, but Ross was unsuccessful in a kick at goal. The pace of the game grew faster and play was exciting. Crossman was prominent in a splendid run, which carried play to half-way. A good run by Elvey brought play near the New South Wales bne, but he was unsupported. Ross again kicked well upfield and from there New South Wales attacked strongly. Finlayson saved by marking under the posts and finding the line at the twenty-five line. All Blacks Nearly Score. New South Wales continued to attack the All Blacks' line, Ross being prominent in good work. Mill showed up in a dashing run, which saw play transferred to New South Wales quarters. The All Blacks were penalised and Ross relieved. The All Blacks attacked again, but the ball went out at the New South Wales line. Nicholls attempted a field goal but failed. The All Blacks started a dribbling rush, and in an ensuing passing bout Elvey hit the corner flag. The next feature was a tremendous burst by New South Wales, the ball going out on the All Blacks' line. Sparkling play followed and Ross attempted to drop a goal, the attempt falling short. Nicholls Kicks a Goal. Elvey with a good run brought play to half-way. Hard play followed on the New South Wales line and twice the ball went across the field, but the visitors were unable to pierce the defence. Ihe All Blacks continued to hammer away, play being at high pressure. Meagher relieved with a magnificent line-kick amid tremendous excitement. Meagher was caught running round the scrum, giving Nicholls a kick from which he placed a pretty goal from the twentyfive line near the side-line. Five minutes of the spell remained. Ross, with a magnificent kick, sent the ball out at the New Zealand line, and from the line-out Morrissey unsuccessfully attempted to drop a goal. Following Nicholls' kick-off in the second half, the All Blacks immediately began in businesslike manner with a strong attack on New South Wales' line. Ross relieved with an excellent kick, play going to the centre. Ross again obtained possession and kicked to Stevenson, Foote, following up quickly, downed the Otago man and the ball went out on the All Blacks' line. From the line-out a brilliant passing movement by the New South Wales backs and forwards was finished off by Woods scoring in the corner. Ross kick failed, making the scores 3 all.

New South Wales were penalised in midfield, Nicholls kick falling slightly short. Crossman then made a brilliant run, but he was not supported and play returned to midfield. Each Side Scores Again.

The All Blacks set up an attack which was nullified by ofTsido play. From the loose the ball came right across the field, and after several exchanges among the New Zealand backs Elvey made a brilliant dash and scored at the corner. Nicholls' kick failed.—New Zealand, 6; New South Wales, 3.

New South Wales had a turn at attack, but Stevenson saved with a long kick. The pressure was continued and Stevenson had to force thxec times. Grossman thrilled the crowd with a meteoric clash down the line but Stevenson hauled him down. A Thrilling Finish.
