UNEMPLOYED WOMEN.

Sir,—ln connection with the large number of unemployed women and trirls in our midst, over 230 of whom have already registered, may I appeal to your women readers to help these people who through no fault of their own, are un' able to help themselves. .Afore especially I appeal to the housewives, many of whom are in a position to give a day's work occasionally at sewing, nursing cleaning, cooking, minding the babv or any other kind of help their household necessities may find needful. There must be numbers of women in our citv who could do this without missing the comparatively small sum it would cost them, numbers of others who could do it at the cost of a little self-denial. The result would be a lightening of their own burdens and the pleasure of knowing they had helped to keep the wol? from a fellow-creature's door. It must be remembered that these are industrious, selfrespecting women and girls who require work, not charity. If any of your readers will help in this good work a note to the Government Bureau in Shortland Street will bring them into touch with the help they require without any unnecessary delay. E. Gibson,
