ONEHUNGA WHARF DUES.

INCREASE MADE IN RATES. AUCKLAND STANDARD ADOPTED. ITie amendments to the by-laws raising the inward and outward dues on cargo handled at the Onehunga Wharf, thus bringing them into *line with the dues charged at the Auckland wharves, was adopted at a special meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday. j The chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, moved that the amendments should be adopted, to come into force on July 25. Mr. M. H. Wynyard suggested that the Auckland and Manukau wharves should be put on the same footing so that goods landed at Auckland and intended for shipment from Onehunga would not be regarded as transhipments. The chairman pointed out that this would mean that they would get no outward rates from Onehunga. which would then be given a special privilege over Auckland. If the suggestion were carried out it would be necessary to revise the Auckland by-laws to equalise the position. A loss in revenue was involved in the suggestion. TTie amendments wer acdopted, and ; t was decided to further consider the transhipment question, the superintendent being asked to report on the proposal.
