TAURANGA HARBOUR.
CARRIAGE OF FERTILISERS. A REDUCTION IN FREIGHTS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA. Friday. The Tauranga Harbour Board met yesterday, Mr. D. Grant presiding. It was decided to appoint the chairman and Mr. J. G. Green as delegates to the next meeting of the Bay of Plenty Development League to be held in August. A reduction in the charges on fertilisers and materials used in the manufacture of fertilisers was agreed to. The board then went into committee to consider matters relative to the branch railway from Te Maunga to Mount Maunganui. The following motion was carried: " That it has beeh reported by the Harbour Board delegates to their board that the railway officials at Wellington intend to recommend to the Minister that the Mount-Te Maunga railway be taken up. This board therefore respectfully enters an emphatic protest against this being done."
