IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS. COMMUNITY LIGHTING SYSTEM. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Friday. Arrangements for borrowing the remaining £15,000' of the £40,000 streets improvement loan have been successfully completed. As soon as the new money is available work on streets improvements will be resumed. Portions of the business area in Te Awamutu were brilliantly lighted this evening, under the community lighting system inaugurated by the Te Awamutu Power Board. The rest of the business area will probably be ready for connect ing up with the power next week. This is claimed to be the first time the system has been adopted in any country town.
