NOTES FROM ELLEBSLIE. GOSSIP OF THE TRACKS. 7 BY ARCHER. The iumpers provided a lot of interesting work at Ellerslie yesterday, when the Etound was in nice condition for jumping. Tom Moore (R. Beer). Esplanade (S. Henderson). and Birkenella. (E. Garratt) cleared th'„> sodwall. water-jump and stonewall in satisfactory stvle. Royal Fame ( S. Henderson i led Prince Abbey (L. Jarvisl over sis hurdles, giving a good display. Prince Abbey baulked at the second fence, but eventually got round safely. Cui Bono jumped four hurdles without mistake. Brushwood Boy (S. Henderson) and Biz.arro (A. Rutherford) were associated in a schoolins bout over several pony hurdles and a couple of the bigger ones. Brushwood Boy giving the better display. Night Comet (E. Thomson) made a fair showing: over one ponv and four of the ordinary schooling hurdles. Alfort (L. Jarv;s) was sent over several pony hurdles and then joined Dimlight (A. Rutherford) to do 3 round of the schooling hurdles. Dinilight completed the task safelv. but Alfort turned a complete somersault at the third fence. Mangahewa (W. Kojve) and Kendal (V» r . Rennie) went over the sodwall, double, and stonewall in satisfactory style. Narcosia (E. Rae) and Vociferate (J. Sharkey! cleared a few hurdles cleanly. Tresillian (F. Butler) and The Drifter (W. (Rowe) were separately schooled over the pony hurdles, both shaping all risht.

Alfort came a nasty cropper when schooling yesterday and was very lame afterwards. The lameness was behind and he will urcbabiv reauire a rest. His rider, L. Jarvis. had a collarbone damaged and was fortunate to escape from an ugly fall with no other inhirv.

It is stated that there is a likelihood of Eft Timi and Scat being taken across to Sydney to race this winter.

A large number of Auckland horses have been nominated for the Wanganui winter meeting, among them being:—Berinthia. Ballymoy 11., Athenry, Llewellyn. Kendal, Tom Moore, Bustler, Explorer. Siaosi, and Serang.

It is intended to fake Kendal to Hawera to keep his engagements at the Egmont winter meeting. Kendal is in good form at present and should take a lot of beating in the hack steeplechase events at the southern meeting. Itjs understood that he will do most of his racing in steeplechase events this winter.

Llewellyn has been very freely engaged at the Wanganui winter meeting. The big fe'.lo-.v is goiriiz along .nicely and did a v-ehil round on the No. 3 grass track with Passionate and Kauri Park yesterday. A rare or two should do him considerable good, as h°> has not appeared in public for eonie months.

Brushwood Boy is not being hurried ; n bis education as a but he is sharing very satisfactorily in his schooling tasks. The manner in w-hich he cleared a couple of the schooling hurdles indicates iL't he will becorno a proficient jumper with experience.

One of the latest additions to the active brigade at Ellerslie is Nicht Comet, who cave a satisfactory* aisolav oyer four hurdles yesterday. Night Comet is a five-yet'-old ce'ding bv Dav Comet frem Miss Folly. R. Hall is training him for hunters' events ahead. Nothing has been seen of 'Kawini at Ellerslie -since he raced at the autumn meeting, as he does most of his work at Papatoc-toe. It is understood that he is to race at Tlawera, and. if lie is in the same form as when he ran second to Archibald in the Brighton Hurdles, he should race very prominently- in the hurdle events. Bally moy 1L has been kept going quietly si;>-.s her return from Trenthain and is very bright and healthy. The imported mare has been nominated for the hack sprintevents at Wanganui. The l.is-ht-weight horseman H. Wiggins has been riding in excellent form lately, and. in addition to having his share of winning mounts. has been on numerous placegetters.
