BUTTER FOR CANADA.
DUMPING DUTY IMPOSED. SUPPLIES FROM AUSTRALIA. Renter. VANCOUVER, May 1. Butter importing firms here have been notified by the Customs Department that they must pay 6 cents per 11j. dumping .duty oil all butter imported from Australia since January 1. It is estimated that approximately 1,400,0001b. of butter, with which dealers oporated, and on which they obtained on an average.a 1 cent margin of profit, are affected. The view of the Government is said to be that the duty is justified because the butter was bought for less than tho cost of production in tho country of origin.
