FARMERS AND WAGES.
Sirj—As one indirectly associated with farmers and their employees I feel compelled to answer "Fed Up's" letter. From the toue of his letter one can only assume that he, like many others, has made an unwise speculation. He has stated that he is unable to carry on, and 111 endeavouring to clear his own conscience is trying to blame the farm labourers, who, I think, you will agree, are in the hum- ■ blest of occupations and work from daylight till dark for a mere pittance.. All I can say about "Fed Up's" suggestion as to paying farm labourers five shillings a day is that it is a disgrace to a civilised community and a worker's intelligence. Sympathiser.
