LAWN TENNIS.
ANNUAL EASTER TOURNEYS. BIRKENHEAD-NORTHCOTE CLUB. RESULTS OF FIRST DAY'S PLAY. The Easter handicap tournament, under the auspices of the Birkenhead and Northcote Tennis Club, was commenced yesterday. The courts were in splendid condition, and an excellent day's play resulted. The addition of the New pavilion greatly facilitated the smooth running of the arrangements for the competitions. The weather was almost ideal, and the few light showers which fell during the day interrupted the play for only a few minutes. Play will be resumed at 9 o'clock this morning. Results of tlio play yesterday were as follow, all the competitions, with the exception of the junior singles, being handicaps Junior Championship.—First round: .1. Solomon beat VV. K.
