A JUMP FOR LIFE.
TRAIN OVERTAKES JIGGER. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORBINSVILLE, Wednesday. A railway ganger, Mr. F. Saunders, had a narrow escape while riding on a jigger from Wa'lton to Morrinsville. Mearing Kiwitahi shortly after 4.30 p.m., he was overtaken by a special goods train from Mamaku. He did not notice its approach owing; to a curve in the line until it was almost on him. He jumped clear just as the train struck the jigger.
