BUILDING BY-LAW IGNORED. LEGAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN. \- ' • The Glen Eden Town Board met on Monday evening. Mr, J. W. West presided. It was reported that the completion of the concrete road as far as the West Coast Road had Resulted in the inauguration of a substantial bus service into Glen; Eden. • ' ; A committee was appointed t<j meet the representatives of the Wattemata Electric Power Board on Thursday, next to go over the roads and decide.on suitable positions for the street lights. A temporary building permit for . 4 a residence was granted some time ago to a local ratepayer, who said he intended making concrete blocks on the sp6t for a permanent dwelling. It was decided to ask the ratepayer iri question what; his intentions were, some months having elapsed without his taking steps to make good his intention. In the case of another ratepayer the clerk was instructed to issue notice of legal proceedings, un~ less the by-laws were complied with m accordance with the permit issued to him. In the case of a shop recently opened in the district built of unsatisfactory material, the clerk was instructed to write requesting the owner to remove the building within seven days, no permit having been applied for prior to itfc erection. . ; X ■• v Complaints having been receiver! of a number of unsightly buildings, poultry houses, etc., being erected: in the district without permits, the board decided to ask the building inspector to attend ihe next meeting to arrange some plan of dealing with "the matter. ' The clerk was instructed to write to the Auckland City Council drawing atto the leaky water mains on the West Coast Road, and the serious damage being done to the road as a consequence, and also to draw attention to the unsatisfactory state in which the road is left on each occasion after the repair of leaky mains. It was reported that the levelling jof the recreation ground had been completed. It was decided to request the engineer to inspect the work. A committee was appointed to arrange for the erection of ,a suitable and compi'eheniive guide post at the junction df the Great North and West Coast Roads.
