While returning from Waihi Beach on Sunday evening, a large motor-bus, the property of Mr. Godkin, containing passengers, from Te Aroba, overturned at the foot of Trenor's Hill, about two mile 3 from Paeroa.
It appears that the driver was about to change into lower gear when nearing the top of the hill, but there was not enough way on and the gear refused to engage. The brakes would not hold the vehicle, which ran downhill, finally overturning. None of the passengers was injured.
The Paeroa troop of boy scouts, encamped nearby, rendered valuable assistance. The bus was righted undamaged, and was then able to resume the journey to Te Aroha.
