ELECTROCUTION INQUEST.
THE " MANAWATU FATALITY.
WORK NECESSARILY DANGEROUS.
[BY TfeLEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WANGANUI. Friday.
At the inquest concerning the death of Mr. Joseph Southee, an employee of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, who was killed by coming into contact. with high tension wires while working on an electric pole, the foreman stated that all that kind of work was dangerous. All precautions had been taken. The deceased was a careful man, and had done more dangerous work. The only wav to obviate, the danger would be to cut out the town while the change over work was being done, and it would take several months. The.coroner sayd that from the evidence given there was no doubt the .occurrence was entirely accidental. Witnesses could not suggest any other" precautions than those already provided.. It depended greatly on the workmen themselves exercising every care. There would'always be great danger, which could not be avoided. No blame was attachable -to anyone, either the workmen or the authorities.
