DUNEDIN EXHIBITION.

THE AUCKLAND COURT. WONDERS OF ROTORUA. A COMPREHENSIVE DISPLAY. [ET TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] DUNEDIN, Friday. There is no sign yet of any slackening in the wonderful holiday attendance at the exhibition. The grand total Op. to and including January 7. was : 865,906, which gives the remarkable daily; average of 19,680. No representation of • the Auckland Province would be complete, unless that land of beauty, romance and wonder, the Rotorua therraal lakes district, found • a prominent place. Accordingly, in one of the bays of the Auckland Provincial Court, there is a large wall, picture, one of Mr. Percy Whittall's best, showing Ohinemutu under an evening sky, with the lake house, and the island from which the Maori maiden swam to meet-,her lover, much as Leander swam the Hellespont to meet his Hero There are also on view beautiful coloured photographs of the famous sanatorium and grounds, the Maori pa at Whakarewaiewa, Maoris bathing, etc. A fine specimen, of a rainbow trout suggests the fishing for which Rotorua is famous, and there are interesting collections of Maori curios and minerals. The minerals comprise sulphur earth and rock and sulphur crystals, petrified wood and bones, and examples of white and pink silica similar' to that of which tho once famous Pink and White Terraces were formed. " Miss Lucy Cleveland, of Auckland, was placed first in the secular ' soprano solo (this evening at the--competitions festival I. in connection with tho exhibition!, BROADCASTING COMPLAINT. RESTRICTED AREA' SERVED. COMMITTEE OBTAINING REPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.! DUNEDIN, Friday. A discussion took place at a meeting of the exhibition directors concerning the unsatisfactory . results obtained from the present wireless service. Tho chairman said he had received a large number of letters from listeners, and many of these were in the nature 6f complaints. Indeed, it was evident that only when the conditions were very favourable could the programmes be heard with any certainty at a further distance than 100 miles. Reporting for the committee, Mr. Todd said the trouble was thiat the officer in charge of the station could not promise any improvement. The Government had tied the directors down to a particular company, and there was consequently some difficulty in arranging a change. It was resolved to ask the broadcasting committee for ft written report, upon re-; coipt of which action would be taken. , AXEMEN'S CARNIVAL. MORE DUNEDIN RESULTS.
