MISHAP TO A VESSEL.
ASHORE ON A SANDBANK. DANGER FROM HEAVY SEAS. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Reed. 51.55 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 8. The Finnish barquentine Favell was driven ashore on a sandbank at Port Phillip during the storm last night. She remained there eight hours before she was discovered. The vessel is 3j miles from Queeuscliffe. Heavy seas are running and there is a danger of their battering her. There is a big deck cargo. A number of tugs are standing by. The Favell is a steel vessel of 1334 tons. She was built at Bristol in 1895. Her port of registry is Helsingfors.
