DON'T WASTE BURNT CAKES.
A cake burnt on the top should be beheaded and then painted with the white of an egg, beaten to a stiff froth with a little vinegar. Replace the cake in its tin, put this inside another tin, and place in the oven for the five minutes necessary to set the new top. If the, top, bottom and sides of cakes are burnt, trim the burnt portions off, cut the cake into cubes, dip into a beaten egg and milk, pop into a quick oven for five minutes, and servo as small cakes.
