SEAMEN LEFT BEHIND.

| THE DELAY TO THE TAHITI. ; CREW'S UNSANCTIONED ACT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. fßecd. 9.15 0.m.) SYDNEY, Jan i. It now transpires that the steamer Tahiti, when she left Sydney for Wellington on New Year's Eve, after being delayed for several hours by the action of her crew, left 34 members of tho crew behind. This coup is regarded as a severe blow to the extremists and one which it is hoped will have a salutary effect. It is understood that the union did not j sanction the action of the men in attempting to hold up the vessel. A cablegram sent from Sydney on January 1 and published on January 2 stated: Tho Tahiti was ready to sail for Wellington at noon yesterday when the crow threw a rope ladder over the side and left the ship. This was a very sudden extension of a previous trouble on Christmas Day, when the crew alleged that they wer& not sufficiently catered for to enable them to celebrate the day in a fitting manner. The Tahiti was taken down the harbour and anchored to await a settlement of the disputo. She sailed at eleven o'clock last night. Several conferences between the crew and the management proved abortive, and how a settlement was finally reached has not yeL transpired.
