Tho cricket attraction on Saturday vras a eame between teams representing Thames and "Hamilton East. Thames won by four wickets and four runs on the call of time. Hamilton baited first and made 96 (Taylor 36. Smallwood 24). Gorbey, who took four wickets for 2 runs and Gibson threo for 25, were the be.?t bowlers for the home side. Thames replied with 64 (Gorbey 161. Going took five wickets for 36 runs ancl Taylor four for 20. , . , . Hamilton ran up 139 m their second innings (Allen 38). J. Buchan took three wickets for 11 runs and Shepherd two for 24. Thames then set out to make .172 runs in 75 minutes and thanks mainly to G. Buchan 68 not out. and Shepherd 13, they wiped off the deficiency with four wickets to spare. CENTURY AT WHAN GAR EI. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] WHANGAREI, Monday. The standard of play and the general state of pitches at Whangarei have comb: ned toward making big scoring in cricket matches rare. In club competitions this seison so far only one century has been scored, but on Saturday an equally meritorious !01 was notched by W. Hollis, a local cricketer, for Mr. H. Flewellyn's eleven against the Thursday Traders' Club team. In both teams were a number of visitors and Hollis. who retired at 101. made his runs mainly off the bowiing of two senior grade players. Flewellyn's team, in the first inning!., made 121 (Hollis 4.6, Wilson, of the Graftoa Club, 23). In tho second innings the team made 163 (Hollis 101 retired. Wilson 17, R.
