PILGRIMS IN MOTORS.

CHRISTMAS AT BETH IE HEM. COSMOPOLITAN CONGREGATION London; Dec. 27. Shepherds watching their flocks on the hillside round Bethlohem as their forefathers did on the night of Christ's birth, saw unprecedented numbers of motor-cars packed with English, American and other pilgrims from all over the world, assembling to witness the Christmas services in the Basilica of the Nativity. A thousand orphans, singing Latin, English, French and Italian "hymns, welcomed the Greek Patriarch, who celebrated the Midnight Mass and laid an image of the infant Jesus in the manger within the grotto where Christ was born. Arabs, pepping in at the open doors, watched the proceedings with the deepest interest.
