THE VITAL STATISTICS.
RETURNS FOR THE YEAR. GENERAL INCREASE SHOWN. MARRIAGES, BIRTHS AND DEATHS An all-roand increase is registered in the vital statistics of Auckland for 1925. Marriages, which totalled 2735, included 590 which were performed in the registry office, as against a total of 2630 in 1924, when 544 were conducted by tho registrar. Births totalled 3448, compared with 3342 for the previous year, while deaths, which numbered 1706, showed an increase of 39. For the month of December there was an increase of 26 in marriages, while of the total of 258, there were 64 ceremonies in the registry office, against aggregates of 240 and 56 respectively in 1924. Births numbered 310, compared with 298, while deaths for . the month totalled 136, a decrease of seven over the corresponding period for 1924. The following comparative tables give the monthly figures, for the past two years. The statistics of marriages include those perfox-med by. the registrar, the numbers' of which are shown in parentheses; — MABBIAGES.
