The Miiungaturoto sports were held in fine but oppressively hot • weather, conditions which w« re shared with other holiday functions. There was a fairly good attendance and competition was keen. : The principal race of the day was the 220 yds. for the Maungaturoto Cup, won by Tj. L)., Abbott, a High School boy, who ran a good race off the lovds mark in 22 4-ss. He was not fully tended.The chnpping events were popular. C. A. Carrick, 265, won the principal handicap standing block chop by 2s from Bunny Finlayson, the All Black footballer. 12s. M. Griffen, (Is, beat Carrick, 14a, in a 12in. standing block handicap, and also won the handicap underhand 14in. block event, off 6s, in lm 21s, from N. Hastie, 16s, and I. Finlaynon, 12s.
