FIRE IN GREY STREET.
DAMAGE TO A BUILDING. The City Fire Brigade received a call at half-past five yesterday afternoon to a twostorey building at>s9, Grey Street, where a fire had broken out in an upstairs room. The outbreak was soon suppressed, one room being gutted, while an adjoining room was slightly damaged. Mrs. M. A. Fitzgibbons, who occupied the building, had a fortunate escape. She was asleep in an upstairs room when a child noticed the fire and gave the alarm. There was no insurance on the contents of the building. The Remuera Brigade was called yesterday afternoon to a grass fire in Bassetf Road, which it extinguished without difficulty.
