Tho nnnnal meeting of the Civic League was held in the Cabin Tea Rooms, Symonds Street, Lost evening. There was a good attendance. Tho president, Mrs. Neai, presided and presented the report for the year, in the course of which she said that the most important co-operative effort of the year s work was in conjunction with the National Council of Women, the two organisations combining to support the candidates for the Auckland Lity Council and for the Hospital Board. For the first time for many years a woman candidate was successful in being elected to the Hospital Board, and is doing good work. During the year the league appointed members to attend the Northcoto and Belmont Progressive Leagues, such intermingling and exchanging of ideas being highly desirable for the benefit children and the community generally. Mrs. Mathias, secretary of the subcommittee of the league working on the Mayoress' War Memorial Library Committee, said that during the year the committee had done splendid work in making scrapbooks for the various orphanages and hospitals, and they had also made booklets for Niue Island, which have given great pleasure to the native TCPThe following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Neal (re-elected); vicepresidents, Miss Basten, Mesdames Axlard, Watson, Mathias, Black; executive, Mesdamss Williamson, Stretton McLean, Middlebrook, Hamilton, Shaw, Brownies, and Miss Parker; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Mason; recording secretary.
