RETIRING HEADMISTRESS.
MISS PICKEN HONOURED.
GIFT FROM THE PUPILS.
A presentation to Miss W. Picken, ths retiring headmistress of the Auckland Girls' Grammar School, was made by the girls of the school yesterday. The senior prefect, Miss E. Penman, on behalf of tho pupils, presented Miss Picken with a solid silver fruit dish and an entree dish. Miss Picken was also given a bouquet in the school colours, blue and gold. In thanking the girls for their gifts, Miss Picken paid a high tribute to the staff and the pupils among whom she had worked as headmistress. Old girls of the Auckland Girls' Grammar School will entertain Miss W. Picken, retiring headmistress of the school, at a social this evening. Miss Picken is retiring on superannuation after serving for over 30 years in the teaching profession, a great part of which was spent in the Grammar School At the social the old girls will present Miss Picken with a token of their affection and respect.
