DEGISIONS OF THE COUNCIL.

The Otamatea County Council resolved to take action against motorists for speeding, particularly on the recently-improved stretches of road between Tokatoka and the Paparoa Station. Action is also to be taken against owners of unlicensed motor-lorries. The fees so far received total £IOO.
A contract for quarrying and carting 590 yards of limestone for Kerr's ftoad, Ruawai, was let to Mr. T. Holder) at 7s lid a yard and anotlier for loading and carting 768 yards of inetal for the Pahi Road was lot to Mr. W. A. Pratt, at £209 15s. It was resolved to carry out the quarrying and crushing at the Whakapirau Quarry bv day labour, the tenders being considered excess'lws. The engineer reported having arranged with the Public Works Department for a grant of £2OO, £1 for £l, for the Kai-waka-Mangawai Road, this amount being transferred from the Tapuni-Kaiwaka grant. The Public Works Department had promised to supply metal for Central Road, Mar ere tu, early in January. The fencing on Donovan's deviation, on the Dargaville-Maungaturoto Main Highway, had been completed, and good progress was being made with the earthwork. The road roller having completed its work on the Paparoa and Huarat) station roads bad been transferred to Matakohe, where it was doing excellent work. It- had been working continuously since its arrival early in July without mechanical defect The second roller should arrive early next vear. It «as being procured through the Main Highways Board Regarding the new Hardies Bridge the engineer reported that a site had been decided upon and the plans were being pronared. The Paparoa-Mareretu Rond and the Kaiwaka-Maungaturoto Road were being rounded up with the grader for the summer.
