STEADY DROP ON TOTALISATOR.

The highest point in totalisator investments in carnival week was reached in 1920, when the Canterbury. Jockey Club handled £340,141, and the Metropolitan Trotting Club £259.076, a total of £599,217 for the seven days. Since then there has been a steady decrease in the figures, as follows: — 'l92l.—Canterbury Jockey Club, £271,454; Metropolitan Trotting Club, £225,476: total, £496,930. 1922.—Canterbury Jockey Club, £259,925; Metropolitan Trotting Club. £221,943: total, £481,868. 1923.—Canterbury Jockey Club, £237,802 10s; Metropolitan Trotting Club. £210,436; total, £448,238 10s.
