MURAAHI AND DESERT GLOW.

[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Monday. The Waikato Racing 'Club's Spring Meeting was concluded at Te Rapa to-day. A couple of showers fell but the weather was fine during most of the day, and there was a large attendance. The track was in excellent order and the racing full of interest, the finish of the Hamilton Handicap being a splendid one, arid the upshot was a deadheat between Muraahi and Desert Glow. After the decision of the Matangi Hurdles an inquiry %vas held concerning the running of Peter Maxwell compared with his effort on the first day. After hearing the evidence of his owner and rider it was decided to take no action. The totalisator handled £30,981 10s, making a grand total of £65,281 for the meeting an increase of £7542 10s. Winner trained by J. Paul, Te Awamutu. From a fair start Sulla found his feet quickest arid led along the back from ire,*away, Genetra and Royal I'light. Crossing the top Pegaway had charge from Sulla and Genetra, this trio being well clear of Royal Flight, who was heading the others, legaway turned for home several lengths clear of Sulla, with Genetra and Orbit heading the others. Pegaway was not troubled in the run home and won easily by four lengths from the fast-finishing Wiltshire, who beat Sulla by half a length. Rahepoto was fourth, followed by Orbit and Genetra. Gome along the back West Abbey ran up to Pendennis. and they were out a couple or lengths from Peter Maxwell and Te Tain, bearing the top Peter Maxwell moved up to the leaders and they were well clear of the others. 1 endennis led into the straight, closely attended by West Abbey and Peter Maxwell. The last-named two were close together at the last fence, and once over Peter Maxwell drew out to win by a length from West Abbey, with Chirrup, who finished strongly, two and a-half lengths away third. Winner trained by H. Eva, Te Aroha. From a fair start Roman Abbey was Quickeat to begin but Tea Time soon ran to the front, followed by Flying Juliet and Gold Beauty. This order was maintained round the bend, the leading trio being well clear of the others. Flying Juliet headed lea Time at the distance and came on to beat him comfortably by three parts of a length. Capella Abbey was three lengths away third, with Roman xVbbey fourth. Time, lm 3s.

Gala Day, Cureaform and White Comet. Matinee and Imopono led into the straight from Cureaform Gala Day and Desert Glow, with the field bunching up Tinopono had charge at the distance, where Desert Glow. Muraabi and Oureaform made efforts. Over the last fifty yards Muraahi and Desert Glow had a Teat tussle, which resulted m the iudge declaring a dead beat. From a good start Billikins was quickly in front and led along the back from King Pot- Pinon, Dave and Lady Glissas, Crossing the top Billikins was showing' the way to Pinon. Bright Knight, Dave and Luxurious. Billikins was first round the bend from Pinon, Quincoma and Bright Knight. At the distance Billikins looked like winning but a little further on he began to tire and was joined by Pinon. Then Mosaic emerged from the ruck, and with a great run got up to beat Pinon by half a length. Billikins was a neck away third, with Bright Knight fourth. Then Birkenella drew out. and led inln the straight from Pittsworth and Tuki. Pittsworth challenged at the last fence, and finishing stongly. he ran home a. comfortable winner by three lengths from Birkenella. who beat Tuki by four lengths. Ohmemuri bad charge as Jl ey crossed the top, and was closely attended by Ring Potoa, Wenday, and King Smock, with Arch Opal, moving up fast. Ohinemuri was first into the straight from Wenday, Arch Opal, Ring Potoa and King Smock. Once in line tor home King Smock came through on the inside and won by three parts of a length from Ring Potoa, who defeated Ohmernuri by a length. Australian papers to hand bring details bearing on the C. B. Fisher Plate, in the decision of which the New Zealand-bred fielding Pilliewinkie defeated the Melbourne Cup winner, Windbag. In the betting that preceded the contest it is stated that odd a were laid on Windbag's ability to win, while 9 to 2 was always on' offer against Pilliewinkie. The following description _of the race is taken from the Sydney- Morning Herald:—"From a good start Heroic took up the running, slightly in front of Windbag, with Pantheon next and Pilliewinkie last. The four hoises were hard held turning out of the straight, where Heroic was a length and a-half in front of Windbag, with Pantheon next and Pilliewinkie still last. After they had travelled two furongs Windbag and Heroic were together, a length and a-half in front of Pantheon, witk Pilliewinkie a length and a-b.alf further back. Windbag and Heroic were still together at the mile, while Pilliewinkie, who was still last, dropped back sightly. The order was the same at the seven furlongs post, but Windbag was slightly ahead of Heroic six furlongs from home. As the field was passing the five furlongs post Pilliewinkie began to move up and at the half-mile Windbag and Heroic were on terms, with Pantheon and Pilliewinkie two lengths away. There was no change in the order as the field rounded the turn, but Pilliewinkie, who was lying second to Windbag into the straight, forged ahead at the distance and won by a length and a-half from Windbag, with Pantheon a similar distance further back. Heroic, who was eased up, was eight lengths away, last. Time, 2m" 39Js.
