GIRL GUIDE MOVEMENT.
ADDRESS TO EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the Executive Council of the Girl Guide Movement was held on Friday morning. The commissioner, Mrs. W. R. Wilson, presided and an interesting address was given by Lady Marjorie Dairympie. In Wellington, Napier and Hastings, Ladv Marjorie said she had been greatly impressed with the progress the movement had made in so snort a space of time. In New Zealand Guiding was in its infancy and yet already the efficiency and number of its companies spoke volumes for- the hold the movement had gained in the community. She was particularly impressed with the fine type of girl the movement had attracted. Healthy and vigorous and intensely alive, the youth of the Dominion had appealed very strongly to her. ' The movement was one that would draw to its membership girls of varied inclinations and tastes and had to offer for each- some particular inducement. The benefits to be derived from Guiding were of such infinite variety that gills of all classes and conditions could find an interest in the wide field of activities the movement covered. The co-operation and esprit-de-corps in the work and the games was an outstanding feature of the movement, and one that- must, under all ciicumstances, promote the principles that make for good citizenship, and in a wider sense, Empire-building. It was most desirable that interest should be maintained in the local associations. From these centres knowledge of the movement should be spread arid it was particularly important that members should become acquainted with the precepts of Guiding. . . In concluding Lady Marjorie congratulated Mrs. Wilson and her very efficient committee on the success that had attended the efforts of the headquarters executive and emphasised the necessity for strong combination in the work throughout the Dominion.
